Based on the thong fastening shoes found in northern Europe between the 9th and 13th centuries, these shoes answer the footwear requirements for earlier period medievalist. Seams up the front and back give the shoe its distinctly early period line while the three strap fastening allows for snug fit around the ankle, no matter what your ankle size!

Made with the same quality we put into out other shoes,  the leather is of the highest grade, selected to maintain shape and are constructed for sturdy wear and are available in full sizes from Ladies' 5 to 10; Men's 6 to14.

 

These shoes will last well and are very close in terms of correct appearance. They are exceedingly comfortable and can accomodate a wide variety of foot widths. Though not actually turnshoes, the welted sole of hardened leather gives long wear and protection and  unlike turn-shoes, they can be repaired when they finally need it at any regular shoe-repair house.

People who normally wear 1/2 sizes, will probably want to go up to the next size.

Note as with any piece of medieval footwear, some people like to add a modern insole. NOW AVAILABLE: Rubber Vibram sole can be added for $35 (please allow 10 days to ship as this is a customization).
