Detailed Description

Slashed German Shoe
Available in black, dark brown, medium brown and deep red, women's sizes 5-10; Men's 6-15
These exceptional shoes are drawn from late 16th century examples and were popular in Germany, Burgundy, Northern Italy and England, probably from 1550-1600 or so.
In "Stepping Through Time" they are called "Tie-Lace Fastening on Latchet Shoes, type 130."
Ours have a welted sole, like the original, and beautifully dyed leather. All four colors are exceptionally rich. The deeply rounded toe and nearly straight sole are characteristic of German shoes for the period, and are typically more comfortable for a modern foot than the Kuhmaul.
This style runs a bit wider, so they are perfect for those who don't like the tighter fit of the earlier period shoes.
