SCA Performance Basket Hilt in Stainless Steel

Within the context of SCA fighting, the basket hilt has long surpassed the gauntlet as a defense for the hand. Most baskets, however, are ungainly and unbalanced, drawing the sword off of the shoulder and making it difficult for combatants to execute efficient blows.

Our performance basket, made in stainless steel, offers a balanced design that can turn an unwieldy club into a flowing competition weapon.

Tired of weapons coming loose during tournaments or in wars? Ours features a durable, solid ring at the top that holds the sword securely in place, combined with a tab and 1/4" bolt hole at the bottom. You can either tape it in place or put a bolt through the pommel area for extra security.

Our basket weighs in at just 1.25 pounds, but most importantly, the weight is distributed in line with the weapon, countering the "forward-pull" of most other commercial designs.
