The overlap closure with wooden toggle fastening on these shoes gives them their early medieval flavor. Based on shoes found in York, Dorestad, and Middelberg in the 9th and 10th centuries, the overlap wraps around the ankle to provide a secure yet comfortable fit. The closure is completed with a wooden toggle.

Made with the same quality we put into out other shoes, we can say with confidence that they hold up under great duress, keep their shape, and provide a good measure of water-repellency even through the arduous mud and storms of SCA events such as the Pennsic War and Gulf War.

You might find "similar" shoes manufactured--albiet at a very similar price--but our leather is of the highest grade, selected to maintain shape.

RedRed

Constructed for sturdy wear and are available in full sizes from Ladies 6 - 10 and Men's 6 to 15. Please take care when selecting color and sizes as not all combinations are available at this time.

These shoes will last well and are very close in terms of correct appearance. They are exceedingly comfortable and can accomodate a wide variety of foot widths. Unlike turn-shoes, they can be repaired when they finally need it at any regular shoe-repair house.

Note as with any piece of medieval footwear, some people like to add a modern insole. NOW AVAILABLE: Rubber Vibram sole can be added for $35 (please allow 10 days to ship as this is a customization).

Beautifully crafted Boots
Mason Phipps (Macdill AFB, FL) 8/30/2012 6:59 AM
I got these in the mail yesterday, and these boots are so amazing. They fit nice and snug on my feet, and went so well with winingas (leg wrappings/very norse and anglo saxon like). I feel like I could run around in any sort of terrain with these boots because of the high level of thought and craftsmenship that went into them. I really feel like they are from another time, when one would go to the local craftsman and get some boots or clothes and each creation is different and unique because it had the personal touch of a real person. Its not like something from a large scale company, where they use stock, and modern day devices to make whatever they create. These boots have that feeling that someone was in a shop hammering the bottom of the boots in admist a storm with lightning crackling about. Of course thats a lovely fantasy on how they are made, but thats what it feels like for me at least! :D Thanks so much for the amazing boots!
