Detailed Description
High Medieval Pull Strap Boots

The split-pullstrap fastening on these shoes gives them their distinctly medieval look. Taken from a 14th Century find in the Netherlands, the strap wraps around the ankle to provide a secure yet comfortable fit. The closure is completed with a stout, solid brass buckle able to stand up to much heavy wear.

Made with the same quality we put into out other shoes, we can say with confidence that they hold up under great duress, keep their shape, and provide a good measure of water-repellency even through the arduous mud and storms of SCA events such as the Pennsic War and Gulf War. You might find "similar" shoes manufactured--albiet at a very similar price--but our leather is of the highest grade, selected to maintain shape.
Though taken from a style common to the Low Countries in the high middle ages, similar shoes have been found from as early as the 10th century to as late as the 16th. Ours are constructed for sturdy wear and are available in full sizes from Men's 6 to14 in black, light brown and oxblood red.
These shoes will last well and are very close in terms of correct appearance. They are exceedingly comfortable and can accomodate a wide variety of foot widths. Unlike turn-shoes, they can be repaired when they finally need it at any regular shoe-repair house.
Note as with any piece of medieval footwear, some people like to add a modern insole. NOW AVAILABLE: Rubber Vibram sole can be added for $35 (please allow 10 days to ship as this is a customization).
