Detailed Description
SCHOLA SAINT GEORGE FIORE DEI LIBERI SEGNO BANNER NEW Historical Martial Arts Teaching Aid! 36" x 78" Segno of Fiore dei Liberi
The Schola Saint George proudly presents its first teaching aid, an oversized Fiore dei Liberi portable banner and stand. This banner, printed in silky banner-quality cloth, is designed as a teaching aid for the salle d'armes.
Fiore dei Liberi's FLOS DUELLATORUM has been taken up by thousands of historical swordsmanship studens beause of the system's apparent completeness. In the "segno" illustration, Fiore encapsulates his fighting philosophy and the characteristics that he believed a fine swordsman should have, using medieval symbolism in animals.
Fiore's four animals: The elephant (fortudio), the tyger (celeratia), the lion (audatia) and the lynx (prudentia)come accompanied with short verses that speak to the qualities that a swordsman should seek to improve and to balance. In addition, the diagram has Fiore's posta (guards) and their counters, plus the seven cuts. It also serves as a footwork diagram!
Within the Schola Saint George we use the diagram as a memory cue. As combatants grow in expereince, they find new subtlies in the Segno, applying it to different aspects of the fight. Now, for the first time, the Schola presents their full color rendition of the Segno for other schools to use finely printed in a classroom-sized banner (36" x 78"!). The whole banner comes with a portable stand that breaks down and packs into a small pouch 36" x 1.5" in diameter. The colors are bold and clear, visible even from the back of a room!
This custom banner will take 14 days to print.
