For the head, within the Schola, our beginning students use these helmets combined with our soft gorget and our sparring jacket or gambeson for protection. These are very good at protecting against the impact of a baton, but they would allow a blade to enter the face and so are not suitable for work with a rebated or aluminum sword. 

These helmets are made from high-quality, soft leather and durable foam, reinforced with a solid welded grill.
