SCA/Baton Grilled Bascinet visor
With our Revival interchange hinge
Members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) practice full-contact armoured combat using batons of rattan. This highly kinetic and competitive martial sport drives combatants to seek optimization of their kit while maintaining varying degrees of authenticity.
Our bascinet grille is designed with 7/8" openings and features one of our Revival hinge interchanges. Any of our helmets with a center-mount should be able to fit our new grille; and the are available in both stainless and mild steel. They are created from sturdy 1/4" barstock and are designd for many years' service.
Historically, there are two iconographic references for such grilles, but they are dominant on must SCA tournament and battlefields, owing to the potent dual advantage of visibility and available air. For those working with bladed weapons, use of a grilled visor is not recommended.
If ordered at the same time as one of our helmets, fitting is free. Otherwise, you can send us your helmet, and so long as it has a Revival hinge system, we will fit yours for $20.
